When I asked my lactation consultant if my daughter had a tongue or lip tie, I will never forget what she said. Well you are the dentist, you tell me. I didn't know then, what I know now. So grateful for Dr. Baxter and the ease of the course! Hoping I can provide relief to other struggling mamas and knowledge to my community!

Tongue- and lip-ties are holding your patients back, but offering a new procedure to treat them can feel overwhelming.
Tongue-Tied Academy is an online course that gives you comprehensive training and ready-to-use resources to treat your patients with confidence.
Dr. Richard Baxter
Your Instructor
Dr. Richard Baxter is a board-certified pediatric dentist and Diplomate of the American Board of Laser Surgery who has performed tongue- and lip-tie procedures more than 8,000 times. He is an internationally recognized speaker on tongue-ties, and author of the best-selling book, Tongue-Tied: How a Tiny String Under the Tongue Impacts Nursing, Speech, Feeding, and More.
It wasn't until after Dr. Baxter's dental education and pediatric residency program that he discovered his own tongue-tie. The fact that he went undiagnosed for so long, even after being immersed in the dental field, helped him to recognize that others were living limited lives because of their tongue-ties too- including his three daughters. Now, he's on a mission to help educate providers and parents so that they can get the right treatment sooner.

"The content is thoughtfully organized into specific modules and presented beautifully through a casual, MasterClass-style format. It offers an in-depth review and discussion of all aspects regarding the integration of tongue-tie treatment into your practice. The icings on the cake (yes, there are several) are the countless hours of video case-studies, the virtual shadowing module, and best of all, the resources section. Completing the Tongue-Tied Academy not only earns you a high level of support but also an uninhibited and transparent view into Dr. Baxter’s world at the Alabama Tongue-Tie Center. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to my colleagues, whether you are an entry-level rookie taking your first dive or seasoned veteran continuing on your journey."

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who is the course for?
Tongue-Tied Academy was created for dentists & physicians who want to deepen their knowledge of this emerging field. It's perfect for those who regularly work with infants and children or those who want to expand their skills to work with this important population. Our goal is to ensure you are prepared to assess tongue-tie patients, identify and diagnose properly, and make treatment decisions with confidence. If you are a therapist, or another provider not interested in actually performing tongue-tie release procedures, we would highly recommend our LITE version. Please note, the LITE version is a separate course, and you are not able to upgrade.
-
Will I really be ready to treat patients after only viewing this course?
Our goal is that after viewing and understanding all of the modules and treatment videos, you will be much better prepared than most providers who begin to do these procedures in their offices. This is the course Dr. Baxter says he wishes he had access to before treating his first patient. There are some who may want to shadow or view the procedures live and in-person after completing the online course. We do offer our Advanced Live Patient Course at our office that allows a hands-on, confidence-boosting experience to four attendees at a time (limited spots per month). For more information, visit www.TongueTieAL.com/Professionals.
-
Will I receive CE credits for this course?
We offer 25 dental CE credits (ADA-CERP) through our partnership with Affordable CE Credits. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide medical CME credits or other types of credits (speech, lactation, etc.) at this time unless your state will accept dental CE credits for licensure requirements.
-
Does this course teach about treating adults?
The main focus of this course is on infants, children, and adolescents, though we will discuss examining and diagnosing tongue-ties in adults to some extent. Through the course, we will show treatment techniques, discuss myofunctional therapy, and provide case studies and treatment videos, some of which will focus on adults. If you plan to treat adults, we would highly recommend viewing this course and Dr. Zaghi's Breathe Course, while also partnering with or training under a myofunctional therapist for the best results.
-
Do you have any other courses?
Yes! After completing Tongue-Tied Academy, some doctors choose to come to our office to learn more at our Advanced Live Patient Course. Information can be found on our website at TongueTieAL.com/Professionals
